Selectacare is a Canadian home care company founded in 1979 by William (Bill) and Joan Lindsay.

Before launching the company, Joan worked extensively as a Community Health Nurse and also cared for her own and Bill’s parents. Her personal and professional experience revealed the need for more client-centered home care services.

From the beginning, Selectacare’s mission has been to deliver personalized, high-quality care families can trust. More than 40 years later, those same principles remain at the heart of everything we do—making us one of the most preferred home care providers in the region.

Bill and Joan retired in 2002, and the company is now led by their son Greg Lindsay. With a background in Long-Term Care, Community Care Access Centres, and a Master’s in Health Care Administration, Greg continues their legacy—committed to providing care that truly enhances quality of life.

Greg Lindsay

President

Greg Lindsay took over Selectacare from his parents, Joan and Bill, in 2002. He grew up around the business, later earning a degree from the University of Toronto and a Master’s in Health Administration from the University of Ottawa. Before joining Selectacare, he worked with the City of Toronto and the North York CCAC.

Having cared for his father through home care, Greg understands the impact of quality care on families. He stays closely involved with both clients and caregivers.

Outside of work, Greg enjoys scuba diving with his wife Anne, spending time at the family cottage, and unwinding through sketching and painting.

Jennyfer Benetua

Director of Care

Jennyfer joined Selectacare in 2022, bringing extensive international experience from her role as Head Nurse in Saudi Arabia. Her expertise in clinical case management and compassionate approach have made her a key advocate for high-quality care and a strong support for our caregiving team.

After moving to Canada, she earned her RPN designation in 2023 and completed both Basic and Advanced Diabetic Home Care certifications. Jennyfer continues to expand her nursing skills every day.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Ruben and their children—Jeru, Ameerah, Ben-Ben and Harper.

Mark Valera

Operations Manager

Mark joined Selectacare in 2021, bringing nursing experience from Saudi Arabia and hands-on care as a Personal Support Worker in Toronto. With a background in computer science, he transitioned into an administrative role where his attention to detail strengthens our client service operations.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his wife Sheila and daughter Zara. He loves cooking, sports, and exploring Ontario through biking, camping, and mountaineering.

In my work with the elderly population, it’s essential to have reliable, compassionate support for clients who need in-home care or assistance with appointments. Selectacare has always delivered. Most recently, while I was out of the country, one of my clients experienced a crisis and was admitted to the hospital. It happened very quickly, so I contacted Selectacare. Greg and his team stepped in immediately, coordinating PSWs to support my client and helping navigate a very stressful situation. They stayed in constant communication with me through calls and texts, responding promptly at all hours of the day and the night. What could have been overwhelming and frightening became manageable thanks to their professionalism, responsiveness, and genuine care. This is just one of many experiences where Selectacare has gone above and beyond. Their dedication and reliability make them an invaluable partner in providing quality care. From my very first conversation with Greg, I knew there was no need to look elsewhere. He was incredibly kind, warm, and helpful, and that level of care carried through the entire experience. Both Belle and Merry Jean were absolutely lovely. You can truly tell they care about what they do, and that culture clearly starts with Greg’s compassionate and attentive leadership. At one point, we needed to arrange an additional overnight shift at the last minute, and without hesitation Greg had it sorted out immediately. That level of responsiveness and support meant so much to us. It was an amazing experience from beginning to end.
